EigenCloud aims to solve a core limitation of blockchains: their inability to efficiently run complex, off-chain computations like AI inference or large-scale data processing while maintaining verifiable trust. Traditional cloud services (like AWS) provide raw compute but not inherent trust. EigenCloud, launched by Eigen Labs in June 2025, provides "verifiability-as-a-service" (EigenLayer). Developers can build applications that execute off-chain but are cryptographically enforced onchain, creating a new category of trust-minimized apps previously impossible on blockchains alone.
2. Technology & Architecture
The platform is built atop the EigenLayer restaking protocol. This allows users who have staked ETH on Ethereum to "restake" it, extending its economic security to secure additional networks and services, known as Actively Validated Services (AVSs). EigenCloud bundles several core primitives:
- EigenDA: A high-throughput data availability layer.

3. Tokenomics & Governance
The EIGEN token is the universal work token for the EigenCloud ecosystem. It is staked by operators to run the infrastructure (like EigenDA and EigenCompute) and by restakers to delegate to those operators. This staking provides intersubjective security—consensus on hard-to-verify outcomes—across all AVSs. The token enables slashing for misbehavior and is central to governance. A key proposal, ELIP-12, aims to link token value to platform usage by directing protocol fees into EIGEN buybacks (LeveX).
